Recent research on malware trends has found significant effort on the part of malware developers and cybercriminals to adapt their malicious applications according to regional or cultural conditions. This article will examine several issues related to this trend: 1) motivations for localizing malware, 2) examples of localized malware, and 3) suggestions for controlling the impact of localized malware.
