Successfully managing a computer network means keeping straight dozens or hundreds of network devices. And, unfortunately, too many network administrators don't have the time or the experience to implement processes to monitor and automate network management. The Shortcut Guide to Network Management for the Mid-Market, specifically written for SMB and mid-market businesses, outlines real-world technologies, processes, and guiding steps necessary to transform your network operations from reactive to proactive.
Chapter 1:
FCAPS, Network Management Fundamentals, and Fault Management, written by Greg Shields, is available at: http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/sgnmm.htm

Planning and assessment begin with a careful identification of the business drivers for change. This evaluation must include thoughtful analysis of the current methods of voice communications and both the voluntary and involuntary drivers. Planning and assessment also include setting proper expectations with both users and management. Chapter 3 will explore these areas as well as how to perform a unique capabilities inventory that is designed to ensure that every capability used in the current/old system is at least considered for inclusion in the new system.
Chapter 3: Planning and Assessment, written by Jim Cavanagh, is available at: http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/dgsdvip.htm

Now that the migration test bed is ready you can begin the selection or verification process for the different tools your project will require. This chapter explores the toolkits you will need to rely on to cover three procedural and technical different requirements for this project: General project guidance as well as technical guidance for the engineering aspects of the project, tools to provide support for the administrative and other processes the migration project itself will require, and tools to support the actual migration.
Chapter 4 :Building the Migration Toolkit, written by Danielle Ruest and Nelson Ruest, is available at:http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/dgvm.htm |

The introduction of voice and streaming video onto the existing IP network presents a completely new set of requirements to the operational performance envelope of the network. Chapter 5 will examine the importance of assessing the readiness of the network and fully evaluating design considerations related to delivering integrated service in the enterprise. To address new service integration, the chapter will explore a methodology, called the “performance envelope,” for mapping the characteristics of the corporate network.
Chapter 5: Key Steps in VoIP Deployment and Management for the Enterprise, by Ken Camp, is available at: http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/dgcnm.htm

While virtualization has impacted every part of IT, security lags. As a result, most security products today do not easily support a virtualized infrastructure. Next generation security products are emerging however. Implemented as virtual software appliances or as virtual shields, they can provide security in a pool of virtual servers, regardless of operating system or application. Data center architects and security architects need to carefully choose security products that support -- and not subvert -- their data center virtualization strategies.

Why has image spam become so popular? Because it is sneaky and
effective for the spammers. Image spam defeats most spam filters. The
clever spammers are fooling most spam filters by putting graphical text
within an image so that the system doing the filtering just sees code,
not the letters and numbers the recipient sees within the graphic. This article presents tips to address image spam threats in your network.
