There are many business reasons that go beyond compliance for keeping your network up and running: As the backbone for your organization, the network plays an important role in your business' day-to-day operations and profitability. Lose the network, and you lose money. Automation can also play an important role in keeping your network-and your business-operating at all times, and can help minimize downtime if it occurs for any reason. Chapter 3 explores how to automating network operations and maximize availability.

An important skill in terminal server administration is configuring the settings required for a user to establish a terminal server session and mastering the tools used to manage the session once it is established. Chapter 4 will show you how to configure and join a Session Directory to help users find orphaned sessions across multiple terminal server farms. In addition, it will introduce you to Windows Systems Resource Manager as well as third-party products that can help manage the allocation of resources to keep your terminal servers running at maximum capacity.
Chapter 4: Management, Load Balancing, and Optimization, written by Greyson Mitchem, is available at: http://nexus.realtimepublishers.com/links/newsletter/hgws2k3ts.asp

This chapter examines the history of some of the most common types of malware: viruses and worms. Both types of malware can succeed only when they can replicate and spread without detection. Much of the effort needed to deploy a virus goes into disguising itself to avoid detection. Worms similarly try to hide themselves, but variants exist that have opted to remain in the open and propagate rapidly and in large numbers to survive and spread. There is no single programming technique or stealth strategy deployed by these prominent forms of malware; rather, like their biological namesakes, they have adopted and survived using a variety of techniques.
Chapter 3: Viruses, Worms, and Blended Threats, written by Dan Sullivan, is available at:

Chapter 2 will examine the some of the broader information protection regulations that exist today as well as best practices for effectively and efficiently meeting those requirements. The first section of the chapter will examine financial integrity regulations and the recent business history that provided the motivation for passage of these types of regulations. The second section of the chapter shifts attention from businesses to individuals and looks into privacy regulations that are emerging from state, federal, and trans-national governments. The chapter closes with a discussion of best practices and frameworks that provide a broad structure for addressing requirements defined in a range of regulations (rather than attempting an ad hoc approach to individual regulations).
